Join the 13% club - the #1 secret to creating an environment and team that love their work
I remember turning up to one of my first roles after graduating and 12 months into it ...... I was miserable.
I struggled to come into work, looked forward to the end of the day, and felt stuck as it was one of my first roles after uni and had the belief I had to stay in for 2 years.
Since then and from researching/coaching over 1000+ clients - awareness and the ability to use our strengths have been found as a key link to our satisfaction at work.
A TED talk I Iove by Shane Lopez is called the 5 secrets of people who love their work. https://lnkd.in/dK2cQ2M
Based on a data set of 8500 Americans (I wonder if we would be different), he looked at what the 13% of people who loved their jobs had in common.
It is a great guide for managers on what to keep in mind when looking at their role, and what to keep in mind to keep their teams and staff engaged.
Skip to the 18 minutes 10 seconds mark around playing to your strengths. I love it from there. PS: the 5 “life design strategies” based on his research include (test drive your future, trust your gut, play to strengths, craft your job, shop for the right boss).
