What career game are you playing?

I remember when I was working in sales I was told that JOB stood for “just over broke” or “just obey the boss”.  The term “Wage slave” has also been used.

Working in a job or for someone else is often painted as a negative.

However having seen many clients transition to roles that they love, or reinvent themselves in their existing roles, it does not need to be this way.

In The Thought Leaders Practice book by Matt Church, Peter Cook, and Scott Stein, they point out that some people love the challenge of being part of working in an organisation. They describe them as “intrapreneurs” or the people who “love innovating and running large projects”.

Working for an organisation doesn’t need to be a death sentence.

The Intelligent Career defines the term “career” as “An evolving sequence of work experiences over time”. It doesn’t need to be static, it involves applying our intelligence to solving problems and requires ownership and focus.

So what career game are you playing?

Are you growing, wanting to be an intrapreneur, challenge the norm or are you settling for the status quo?
